It does matter if you want boiled eggs because if they’re too cold they’ll just crack in hot water.
put the eggs in whilst the water’s cool and let them warm up with it?
If you get the eggs out before you start boiling the water, as you would, they’d be more or less room temperature anyway by the time it’s boiled.
